Health Psychology

Tracey Larkin Health Psychology

Health Psychology focuses on the behavioural and psychological factors that influence health and illness. Within a Bio-psych-social model of health there are many factors associated with illness that are outside our control, such as inherited genetic and personality traits and the wider social, economic and cultural environment that we live in. Health psychology focuses on psychological and behavioural factors that are within our control, to help us cultivate healthy coping strategies.

Health psychology can help with adjustment and grief associated with the diagnosis of a significant change in health, and assist with psychological, lifestyle and coping strategies to help maximise personal, social and career engagement.

Tracey provides health psychology interventions via telehealth for:

  • Chronic disease management
  • Pain management
  • Improving nutrition, exercise and activity levels
  • Illness prevention through lifestyle changes
  • Weight management
  • Smoking cessation
